Jewellery making and design course
1, 2 and 3 day
Travelling in Koh Phangan wouldn’t be complete without visiting Workshop Silver – It’s not just to buy the silver jewellery which is handmade in our workshop on the island but to make the jewellery yourself on our 1, 2 or 3 day courses. Guided by us you can make earrings, rings and pendants- the perfect souvenir of Koh Phangan uniquely made by yourself!
Perhaps you are tired of the commercialized silver jewellery sold everywhere or you would like to explore your creative side. At workshop silver we offer 1, 2 and 3 day courses no previous experience is necessary and in fact many of today’s jewellers were trained in other disciplines or had no formal training at all – jewellery remains one of the few fields in which an individual, working alone and with limited facilities, can make a significant contribution – all it takes is commitment practice and perseverance.
The day starts at 10am and continues until 5pm – we collect you from your resort and after the course (leaving with a professionally finished piece of jewellery created and made by you) drop you back to your resort.
1 day course
Design and make your own unique ring/pendant or earrings – using heat and silver as well as setting stones to produce quality jewellery that is uniquely you.
After collecting you from your resort you will have an introduction into jewellery making then you will commence making your silver jewellery design.
You will be shown the techniques required to make stunning pieces that you can proudly wear!
The 1 day course is 1500baht which includes:
  • Explanation of techniques of silversmithing
  • Module of silver smithing basic course
  • Instructor
  • 5 grams of sterling silver (if you wish to make a larger piece we will provide you with the silver at our basic cost)
  • Pick up/drop off from/to your resort
2 day course
As in our 1 day course but students will learn jewellery making techniques that will lead to more projects. Over the 2 days – sawing, soldering and stone setting will be emphasized as students complete three or four projects.
The 2 day course is 3000 baht which includes:

3 day course
Using the techniques of the 1 and 2 day course the student will learn more jewellery making techniques and enables you to create even more complicated jewellery pieces, advanced techniques will also be introduced at this stage to enable you to return home and continue to make silver jewellery and expand your creativity in making your jewellery pieces.
The 3 day course is 4500 baht which includes:

Here at workshop silver we always have a large supply of silver and stones available for our silver jewellery workshops. As a guide the average material cost is 200baht, you are welcome to bring your own stones/shells to work with.

Workshop silver is located in two locations in Koh Phangan. One in the busy area of Haad Rin, home of the full moon party and the other in Thongsala (you will find a real Thai atmosphere in Thong Sala and traditional Thai food to sample on you lunch break)

The owner of Workshop Silver is Yot who has been making and designing jewellery on the island for 15 years Yot’s custom made jewellery is well collected by lovers of handmade jewellery who return year after year to commission pieces, when Yot shares his skills in his excellent 1, 2 and 3 day courses he creates an easy learning environment and enjoys these occasions as much as his students.

The workshop runs all year but places are limited and fill quickly please book in advance to avoid disappointment.
