The west coast of the island is host to a rich and vibrant coral reef that stretches from
Sri Thanu up to Koh Ma; and from any beach along this stretch
an amazing underwater world of mesmerising corals and luminescent tropical fish is right at your fingertips. Good beaches are
Haad Chao Phao,
Haad Yao,
Haad Salad and
Mae
Haad; although almost any beach will have something of interest, especially if you head to the rocky areas.
There is very little to be warned about as the Gulf does not harbour many seanasties, though look before you put your feet down and
NEVER stand on coral as it kills
thousands of years of growth instantly. Beware of strong currents, wear a t-shirt to stop your back burning....and enjoy.
