Held each year around late October, this high spirited festival is one of the highlights of the Thai Buddhist calendar. Thongsala’s public park is transformed by stalls serving up an array of tasty Thai food, while the town comes to life with a mixture of beauty contests, dance performances, pageantry and traditional parades. Lasting almost a week, visitors should head down to the beach to cheer on local teams battling it out at long boat races and other rowdy water sports.
